How to make your minecraft look better

maxresdefault

Believe it or not, this is minecraft vanilla.

Minecraft is a good and fun game. But sometimes people wonder, can it look better?

Looks seem like the thing Mojang and Markus Persson concerned about the least when the made and developed minecraft. But they did give us an alternative: Texture packs.

The default texture of minecraft is 16 by 16 pixels for each block. Although it looks somewhat realistic, most people think it’s overly pixelated, and want to change how it looks. Texture packs are exactly right for this situation. Texture packs change how each type of blocks look, but doesn’t change any functions of the game. For example, Texture packs can change the color of a block, but it doesn’t change how it gets rendered. It can change a block into not 16 by 16 pixels, but 32 by 32, 64 by 64, 128 by 128, or, the most I have ever seen, which causes a lot of lag, 256 times 256. I’ll give you an idea of how many that is. If on a minecraft PE finite world, and every block has one pixel, then the 256 times 256 texture world equal to you looking down at the entire PE world. Which is 65536 pixels on each side of a block. So, rendering each block would equal to rendering 256 blocks with the default texture. I don’t know what kind of computer can play with that kind of texture pack. These are labeled photo realism.

But there are other things that are equally good. There is a texture pack called Faithful, and it’s 32 by 32 pixels, but it’s the exact same texture, just with smaller pixels. There are 64, 128 or 256 pixel versions of this, but they are not that good.

There are many versions of Faithful out there, but I would suggest you choose one you like and can use.

Or, you can choose from the many other ones out there. But I don’t have any personal favorites. I like the default texture the best.

Or, there are other options for how to make your minecraft look better, and this is one I would definitely recommend if you can use it: shaders.

There is a mod called Shadersmod (originally called GLSL), and it is a mod that you can install to use shader mods, and shader mod make leaves shake, and everything will have shadows, and more (it requires forge).

ShadersMod adds shaders to Minecraft and add multiple draw buffers, shadow map, normal map, specular map. These things can be used to change appearance of Minecraft world. How it looks depends on selected shaderpack and some user settings.

You can follow to installation instructions on forum page: http://www.minecraftforum.net/forums/mapping-and-modding/minecraft-mods/1286604-shaders-mod-v2-3-18-updated-by-karyonix

Here is a list of amazing pictures with just the ShadersMod and the SEUS shader, plus a texturepack. minecraft-city-scape
